A nasty plumbing emergency in Vaucluse
John and Ira were busy professionals. John was the manager at a PR firm. Ira was the senior manager at a consultancy firm. They kept crazy hours, often meeting only in the wee hours of the night to catch a quick bite before going to bed.
One day, Ira heard a strange clanging noise from the pipe under the kitchen sink when she turned off the water. It was almost as if someone was sitting inside with a hammer in hand. She turned on the pipe once again and turned it off. There was the sound again. She had never had problems with water hammer in the house before.
‘John. Listen to this sound,” she said as she turned off the water. “What do you think it could be?”
